Police arrested three city men in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old Michigan girl on Carroll Street and 12th Avenue, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Andre Green, 20; Kashief Davis, 24; and Jaquan Lugo, 22, have been charged with six counts of attempted murder, three counts of unlawful weapon possession, eighteen counts of weapon possession for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon, authorities said on Sunday evening.

Police additionally charged Lugo with person not to have a weapon. State correctional records show Lugo was previously convicted on a child abuse charge. He received a 12-month prison sentence, according to state records.

Lugo was released in mid-March.

Green, Davis, and Lugo allegedly aimed at a total of six victims. One was wounded multiple times, authorities said, when gunfire rang out on Carroll Street and 12th Avenue at around 2:21 a.m. on Sunday.

An off-duty city police officer heard gunfire in the area and got close to the scene. A group of individuals were observed fleeing in a vehicle. The officer started to follow the vehicle, authorities said, and notified headquarters.

Authorities said one suspect from inside the car fired at the off-duty officer. The officer dodged gunfire and did not return fire, authorities said. He followed the vehicle in front of 187 Clifton Street.

All of the occupant tried to flee. The off-duty officer and other officers arrested three of them.

The charges expose the three men to very long prison sentences, authorities said. They are scheduled to appear for a pretrial detention hearing on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Authorities said detectives continue to investigate the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the prosecutor’s tip line at 1-877-370-PCPO or [email protected] or the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
