A man from Prospect Park has been arrested and charged with weapons offenses and providing false information to police, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Marcel Priest, 22-year-old, was also charged with a person not to have a weapon due to a prior conviction.
Priest was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said. He arrived at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center at around 8:10 p.m. with a gunshot wound that was later determined to be self-inflicted.
Authorities said Priest told police he had been shot. If convicted on the charges, Priest could face a maximum of more than 21 years in state prison.
Priest was arrested two years ago on drug dealing charges in Lodi. Undercover police from Lodi setup a purchase at a Dunkin’ Donuts. Priest was accused of having 40 bags of heroin.
