Arrest made in Paterson police-involved shooting

A city teenager was arrested for pointing a handgun at three police officers on North 5th Street Wednesday afternoon, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Dionte Robinson, 18-year-old, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree unlawful weapon possession, weapon possession for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree aggravated assault (four counts), possession of a defaced firearm, authorities said.

Robinson was in possession of a handgun on North 5th Street between Clinton and Jefferson streets at around 5 p.m. Police officers observed the handgun. He pointed the weapon at three police officers.

Two officers fired their service weapons. No one was injured in the gunfire. Authorities recovered the weapon Robinson had in his possession. It was a handgun. With serial number defaced.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office conducted the investigation into the police-involved shooting that led to the arrest.
