Paterson police make arrests in string of armed robberies

Three people have been arrested for allegedly committing a string of robberies this month, according to police director Jerry Speziale.
Police charged city residents Mariano Maldonado, 34; Victor Torres, 48; and Luis Pizarro, 39, with armed robbery, weapon possession, and possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, said the director on Thursday morning.
Maldonado, Torres, and Pizarro were located in different parts of the city. Police also confiscated a weapon that was allegedly used in the armed robberies. Two male wedding bands were also recovered by police during one of the arrests.
Police are attempting to locate owner the owner of the bands.
The three men were allegedly involved in the robbery on Main and Mary Streets, 136 16th Avenue, and 208 21st Avenue, according to police.
Police continue to investigate the robbery incidents. Other victims are being called in by detectives to view photo arrays of suspects and positively identify them as actors in the armed robberies.
