The Spencer Savings Bank of Elmwood Park donated $2,500 to Eva’s Village two weeks ago. Six of the banks employees volunteered to serve coffee and cleaned up after 300 guests were served at the nonprofit’s community kitchen in late November.

Funds will support the group’s soup kitchen for one day of lunch service. The nonprofit provides 300-400 hot meals per day during lunch.

“The volunteers and staff at Eva’s Village are a special group of people; they are doing truly honorable work that benefits so many community members who might not receive the help otherwise,” Janel Bazih, vice president and marketing manager at the bank, said. “As a community bank, it is in the core of our purpose to support their efforts. We are very glad to continue this annual tradition as well as increase our donation for this year.”

Spencer Savings Bank has supported the organization’s Fund-A-Meal program, a corporate sponsorship and team building opportunity, for seven consecutive years.
