Paterson recognizing 10 African-American organizations for Black History Month

Ten organizations run by African-Americans will be recognized during the city’s Black History Month celebration on Thursday afternoon.
Some of the organizations are relatively new. Many sprang up over the past years to address the needs in their community. For example, the group Humble Beginnings began serving healthy Sunday meals to the needy from different locations in Paterson in May 2015.
Similarly, the group Paterson Cares opened several years ago to provide hot soup to the shivering homeless mostly in the 4th Ward. The group also provides other food items to the homeless.
There’s also the Bronze Shields of Passaic County which helps to steer African-Americans towards careers in law enforcement and Save the Village which holds an annual event to discuss and find solutions for issues affecting African-Americans.
These and other organizations will be recognized tomorrow. Full list of organizations are listed below:
