Paterson man caught with $7,000 cash, edible marijuana in 16th Avenue traffic stop

Plainclothes police officers arrested 35-year-old city resident Alexis Fernandez during a traffic stop on 16th Avenue on Monday afternoon with edible marijuana products, Oxycodone pills, and $7,128 in drug money, said police director Jerry Speziale.
Police charged Fernandez with drug possession and distribution. He was issued tickets for improper safety glass and failure to show registration. Fernandez caught the attention of police officers at 12:50 p.m. while tailgating and speeding on Straight Street in his black Jeep Cherokee.
Police pulled him over outside of 129 16th Avenue. He was making suspicious movements inside the vehicle when officers ordered him to lower his window. Smell of raw marijuana emanated from the vehicle, according to police.
Fernandez was ordered to get out of the car for a field interview, said the director. 80 Oxycodone pills, 1 sealed package of “Sour Diesel” 1 gram vape cartridge, brown bag filled with 4 packages of “THC Edibles” 300 mg, 4 packages of “killer gummy yummy/105 mg THC,” and 11 packages of “Jolly rancher cannabis heard drops/60mg THC” was confiscated from the vehicle, said police.
Speziale said Fernandez was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. He recognized officers Ismail Kivanc and John Farfan for the successful arrest.
