A city man was shot and killed early Thursday morning while making a delivery from his restaurant, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Rui Zhou, 29-year-old, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his white Toyota Highlander, at around 12:42 a.m. at 404 East 34th Street. He and his wife, Xiaomei Liu, 29, a passenger in the vehicle, were making the last delivery of the night from the Chinese food restaurant the couple owns.

Both were victims of a robbery.

Zhou was shot in the face inside his vehicle. His car crashed into three parked vehicles in the area. Authorities said he was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center at around 1:09 a.m.

Liu was uninjured, authorities said.

Police were searching for the possible shooter on Thursday morning.

The homicide is Paterson’s fourth in 2018.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call 1-877-370-PCPO or [email protected] or contact the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.
