Five candidates seeking to fill vacant Paterson school board seat

Five people have submitted applications to fill the school board seat vacated by Flavio Rivera.
The candidates vying for Rivera’s seat are:
- Corey L. Teague
- Heru Keonté
- Eqbal Ahmed
- Eddy M. Pichardo
- Jessica L. Schutte
School board members said the competition for the seat is between Pichardo and Teague. Each of the candidates will be interviewed on Monday evening.
Rivera had to resign after winning a seat on the City Council.
Both Pichardo and Teague are running in the November election. Teague is running for a full-term seat while Pichardo is running for one of the two unexpired seats.
The candidate picked to fill the vacancy will hold the seat for the next four months.
