A city man and woman were sentenced to federal prison on Wednesday for selling thousands of fake Percocet pills filled with heroin.

Karen Rojas, 28, and Juan Vidal, 34, manufactured the pills at their residence in Paterson, authorities said. Vidal used a press to make the pills and Rojas sold them for $5 per piece.

From February to April 2018, Vidal manufactured and Rojas sold thousands of pills.

On April 18, 2018, Rojas was asked for 100-150 heroin pills. She sold the cooperating witness 40 pills for $200 and indicated Vidal needed to “get supplies,” purchase more heroin,” to make extra pills.

Rojas received a 21-month sentence on Wednesday while Vidal received a 30-month sentence on Tuesday. Both previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge William H. Walls in Newark federal court to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin.

In addition to prison time, the judge sentenced both to four years supervised release.
