The Greater Bergen Community Action’s Early Head Start preschool program has expanded by adding eight new classrooms for children ages 0-3 at its Cecile Dickey Center and Michael’s Energy Factory sites.

Eight classrooms will accommodate 64 more children and their families in Paterson.

“As a federally-funded Early Head Start program, our mission is to serve the underserved and help change the trajectory of as many lives as we can. This expansion will allow us to do just that and we’re thrilled to be able to do so,” Nancy Griner, Head Start director at the Greater Bergen Community Action (GBCA), said.

New classrooms are at sites that include amenities like playground, handicapped accessibility, dual-language speakers, before and after care, and nutritious meals for the children.

The organization’s Head Start and Early Head Start sites are currently enrolling students ages 0-5 from low-income families to meet the children’s educational, psychological, and health needs. All Head Start and Early Head Start students are provided free education; vision, dental, health and developmental screenings; free diapers and formula (0-3); and breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
