Nine people were arrested in a big drug bust on Sussex Street early Wednesday evening that led to the confiscation of 17 pounds of marijuana and $123,839 in cash, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police arrested Maen Hussein, 30, of Paterson; Patryk Kot, 20, of Clifton; Mutaz Hussein, 33, of Paterson; Issam Herzallah, 33, of Woodland Park; Mohammad Alsaraki, 33, of Woodland Park; Martin Saloury, 27, of Ridgewood; Diego Amoroso, 27, of Elmwood Park; Ahmad Ammar, 20, of Paterson; and a 17-year-old boy of Paterson during their bust at 411 Sussex Street at around 6:25 p.m.

Each was charged with various drug offenses.

Police seized $112,476 from Mutaz Hussein and $11,278 from Maen Hussein. Authorities said the investigation began with a complaint from a concerned citizen.

Police were told there was drug dealing taking place on the side of a business at 465 Getty Avenue.

Detectives setup a surveillance operation in the area of 411 Sussex Street and Getty Avenue. Investigators identified numerous vehicles and individuals involved in the sale and purchase of drugs in the area.

Police determined the first floor of 411 Sussex Street was a storage facility for drugs. Police arrested the parties involved, confiscated drugs, seized vehicles, and raided the first floor apartment.

Police seized the drugs and cash in the raid.

“They shut a major drug distribution network down and the large amount of currency will be forfeited for future law enforcement endeavors and equipment,” Speziale said.

Correction: A previous version of this story reported 40 pounds of pot was seized. Police made an error. 17 pounds of pot was seized in the bust.
