Councilman Michael Jackson has been issued a summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Jackson was driving his black Ford Expedition on Pennsylvania Avenue. He made a turn on East Railway Avenue without signaling, said Bill Maer, spokesman for the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.

Maer said a sheriff’s officer, Mohammod Khan, on routine patrol of the area observed the behavior and stopped the vehicle just before Buffalo Avenue. During the stop, the officer found Jackson had a suspended driver’s license. At the time of the stop a licensed driver was in the passenger’s seat.

Khan issued two warnings for failing to signal the turn and failing to exhibit documents, said Maer.

A supervisor reviewed the incident at the end of the shift and determined the driver should have been issued a summons during the stop. Maer said a summons was issued and sent via certified mail to Jackson on Monday.

When reached for comments on Monday, Jackson said he was in a meeting.

Jackson has been ticketed in the past for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Last month, Jackson’s Resident Assistance Program (RAP) van was towed for not being registered.
