Paterson man accused of videotaping women in Clifton bookstore bathroom

A Paterson man has been arrested for allegedly videotaping women in the bathroom of a bookstore in Clifton, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Juan Mejia, 44-year-old, was arrested on Wednesday. Authorities said he secretly videotaped two women who were using the bathroom stalls at the unnamed bookstore.
Mejia has been charged with two counts of third-degree invasion of privacy. While investigating the case, authorities also discovered video images of suspected child pornography in Mejia’s possession.
Additionally, Mejia was charged with possession of suspected child pornography, manufacturing child pornography, and endangering the welfare of children.
Mejia could face a maximum of 25 years in state prison if convicted on the charges. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail, authorities said.
Prosecutors filed a motion for pretrial detention. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
