Sixth man shot in Paterson in long Easter weekend violence

A city man was injured in a shooting in the area of 18th Avenue on Sunday night, making him the sixth person to be shot in a spate of shootings over the long Easter weekend.

The victim, 21-year-old, was shot on 18th Avenue near Madison Avenue and Market Street at around 9:37 p.m., authorities said.

Authorities said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wound. He was rushed to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment and is in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

Five other men were shot in weekend violence. A man was shot on East 32nd Street on Friday. Three men were shot on Grand Street on Saturday. Another man was shot on Park Avenue on Sunday.
