The number of people infected with the new coronavirus in Paterson increased by 173, boosting the total case count to 2,739 on Saturday afternoon.

Municipal officials reported one new fatality, bringing the total to 64. Health officials said the death numbers are lagging behind as hospitals in the region have been swamped by Covid-19 patients slowing down their reporting.
