11 people in Paterson charged for allegedly violating social distancing orders

Eleven people were charged for allegedly violating social distancing orders put in place to curb the spread of the new coronavirus on Tuesday, according to authorities.
Shahiem Alston, 33, Shamir Williams, 26, and Jahmahli Carnegie, 19, Miguel Gonzalez, 40, Victor Corota, 50, Alberto Torres, 49, Jose Montez, 56, Clavon Radcliff, 31, Andre Gordon, 32, Jermaine Brown, 32, and Jerome McGraw, 32, all of Paterson, were charged with violating emergency orders.
Alston, Williams, and Carnegie were allegedly violating emergency orders in the corner of 17th Avenue and East 28th Street by gathering without an essential purpose, failing to practice social distancing, and refusing to disperse, authorities said.
Gonzalez, Corota, Torres, and Montez allegedly gathered on Market and Summer streets without an essential purpose and refused to disperse.
Radcliff, Gordon, Brown, and McGraw allegedly gathered on 10th Avenue and East 26th Street without an essential purpose, authorities said. They failed to practice social distancing. Police tried to disperse them but they refused.
Each faces a $1,000 fine and six months in jail, authorities said.
