Bloomfield man led Paterson police in chase, crashing car into house

A Bloomfield man led Paterson police on a more than a mile-long chase before crashing into a house, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Adriano Giordano, 24-year-old, has been charged 11 weapons, drugs, and eluding offenses.
Giordano was driving his gray Infiniti G35 on Memorial Drive and Bridge Street towards Broadway at around 11:02 p.m. on Saturday. A detective observed his broken driver’s side mirror and activated his emergency lights. Giordano pulled over to the side of the road on Broadway and Straight Street.
As the detectives approached the vehicle, Giordano accelerated, spinning his tires, and fled east on Broadway towards Summer Street. As he fled police, Giordano was observed swerving around cars, nearly striking them, as he proceeded through traffic signals on Broadway. He had his lights turned off.
Police lost Giordano after he made a turn onto Madison Avenue. A marked police car recognized the fleeing vehicle and radioed that he observed the vehicle on 14th Avenue without its headlights on.
Detectives arrived at the scene and found Giordano struck a Paterson police vehicle and collided into a house at 680 East 24th Street. His vehicle damaged the porch of the house and caused the police unit to catch on fire. Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire.
Police said the Infiniti G35 was found resting on its side in front of 678 East 24th Street.
Giordano was placed under arrest. Police recovered a loaded SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun in his right jacket pocket. He also had marijuana and heroin, police said.
Giordano was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
