Coronavirus cases in Paterson top 5,000 with 163 deaths

The number of people tested positive for the new coronavirus in Paterson increased by 97 to 5,041 on Saturday afternoon, according to municipal government data.

Number of deaths from Covid-19 increased by five to 163, according to data.

Municipal officials have announced a Covid-19 testing site at the old Barnert Hospital that will open on Monday.

The Passaic County testing site at William Paterson University has adjusted its hours. The site will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Paterson has the largest outbreak of the virus in Passaic County.

Passaic County has 13,082 infections with 624 deaths. Overall, New Jersey had 123,717 cases with 7,742 fatalities on Saturday.
