A city man was arrested during a traffic stop on Straight Street with 350 packets of heroin and 27 small baggies of crack cocaine.

Rayvon Wilson, 30-year-old, is charged with five counts of drug possession and distribution. He was also issued summonses for motor vehicle violations.

Wilson was driving a silver Toyota Camry with an expired Rhode Island temporary license plate on Straight and Market Streets at about 8:40 p.m. last Wednesday. He allegedly ignored a traffic light.

Police officer Jensin Burgos pulled him over on Straight Street and Park Avenue. Officer Jovani Scharon arrived at the scene as back up.

Burgos approached the driver of the vehicle and quickly learned the driver did not have a driver’s license or any credentials for the vehicle. He saw a small Ziploc bag inside the vehicle containing smaller bags of a white powdery substance that turned out to be crack cocaine.

Wilson was ordered out of the car and placed in handcuffs for drug possession. Scharon stayed with the suspect while Burgos searched the vehicle.

Burgos recovered 350 glassine envelopes of heroin in the form of seven bricks in the center console. He also found 27 small baggies of crack cocaine.

Wilson was taken to police headquarters for processing, said police director Jerry Speziale.
