Coronavirus cases in Paterson increase to 5,810 with 302 deaths

The number of people tested positive for the new coronavirus in Paterson increased by 55 to 5,810 on Thursday afternoon, according to municipal government data.

Fatalities increased by 31 to 302 on Thursday. Health officials have said there’s a lag in the reporting of Covid-19 deaths.

Mayor Andre Sayegh has said the city will open four testing sites at local schools on Friday.

Paterson has the largest outbreak of the virus in Passaic County.

Passaic County has 14,887 infections with 802 deaths. Overall, New Jersey had 142,704 cases with 9,946 fatalities on Thursday.
