26-year-old Christopher Clark was killed in the police-involved shooting that occurred on 16th Avenue, authorities said on Sunday evening.

Clark, a resident of Paterson, sustained fatal injuries shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation revealed officers from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a shooting on Park Avenue at around 1:10 a.m. Officers encountered Clark at the scene.

During the encounter, officers fired at Clark, killing him.

A loaded .45 caliber pistol was recovered near Clark, authorities said.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate the incident, authorities said. Fatal police-involved incidents have to be investigated by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office by law.
