Paterson police arrest 14 people in Marion Street drug bust

A drug bust at a Marion Street houses yielded 14 arrests and an assortment of drugs and three handguns on Thursday, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police charged the 13 Paterson residents and 1 Prospect Park resident with various drugs and weapons offenses.

Jeffrey Lopez, 25; Matthew Rodriguez, 19; Anthony Rosa, 20; Anthony Ramirez, 34; Edward Villavicencio, 20; Beynards Vasquez-Ozoria, 21; Alton Duham, 24; Victor Marmolejas, 20; Raylin Polanco, 24; Hermez Rodrigues, 36; Allyson Badillo, 21; Devin Perez, 21; Michael Velez, 28, all of Paterson; and a 16-year-old Prospect Park boy were arrested during the raid at 181 Marion Street.

Polanco, Marmolejas, Duham, Gonzalez, Vasquez-Ozoria, Villavicencio, Ramirez, Rosa, Rodriguez, and Lopez were charged with numerous drugs and weapons offenses, police said. Rodrigues, Badillo, Perez, and Velez were charged with drug possession.

Police recovered 284 glassine envelopes of heroin, 13 bags of marijuana, 218 THC cartidges, 41 pre-rolled marijuana cigars, and 16 jars of marijuana weighing four pounds. Police also seized a Sturm Ruger .40 caliber handgun, a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun, and a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun.

Detectives seized ammunition and $3,768 cash as well, police said.

Speziale said police began their investigation of the address after receiving complaints of increasing drug activity in the area. Residents complained about drug deals taking place day and night at the address, police said.
