The 4th Ward, a largely African American part of Paterson, has the most coronavirus deaths, according to municipal government data released on Wednesday.

Data shows the 4th Ward has 57 deaths followed by the 3rd Ward with 52. The 1st Ward has 41 deaths; 2nd Ward has 40; 6th Ward has 35; and the 5th Ward has 22.

The data, broken down by political districts, is incomplete. Some death reports did not contain proper addresses to be assigned to a ward, according to the city.

Fatalities from Covid-19 increased from 309 to 366 on Wednesday. Health officials have said there has been a lag in reporting deaths.

Number of infections in Paterson increased by 30 to 6,221 on Wednesday. The three-day daily average is 27. New cases in Paterson have been declining at a steady clip since the beginning of May because of social distancing and contact tracing.

Paterson has the largest outbreak of the virus in Passaic County.

Passaic County has 15,873 infections with 899 deaths. Overall, New Jersey has 156,628 cases with 11,339 fatalities.
