A new coronavirus testing site is opening at the St. Joseph’s DePaul Center on Getty Avenue on Monday.

Testing is available for anyone over 18. Uninsured Paterson residents will be able to receive testing without cost. Hours for the testing site runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“Access to testing remains critical to continue battling the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kevin Slavin, head of St. Joseph’s Health, said. “The launch of these testing sites is crucial to creating a ‘new normal’ in healthcare delivery as we work together to get in front of this virus.”

St. Joseph’s Health is working with Passaic County Health Department, Paterson, Passaic City, Eva’s Village, and St. Mary’s General Hospital to establish community testing sites in Passaic City and Paterson.

Eva’s Village is opening a testing site within two weeks.

“The testing site at Eva’s will allow the individuals we serve every day, as well as many others in our neighborhood, to easily access testing for COVID-19 and get connected to the health services they may need,” Dan Renaldo, head of Eva’s Village, said.

Paterson has the largest outbreak of the virus in Passaic County. The city has struggled to provide testing for its residents. The virus has infected 6,246 people in Paterson and killed 366.

The initiative to increase testing was announced in a news conference at the DePaul Center parking lot on Friday morning.

St. Joseph’s DePaul Center is located at 11 Getty Avenue in Paterson.
