A city man in possession of a loaded revolver and drugs was arrested after a chase through Summer Street on Thursday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Zimere Jones, 18-year-old, has been charged with weapon and drug offenses. Police observed him and another man allegedly engage in a hand-to-hand drug transaction on Summer Street and Broadway at around 9:07 p.m.

Jones allegedly had a fanny pack that contained drugs, police said. He ran from detectives as they got out of their vehicles. He led police on a chase to Summer and Van Houten streets. He discarded the gun and drugs out of the bag outside 2 Van Houten Street, police said.

Police recovered a Colt .22 Caliber Revolver, 13 glassine envelopes of heroin, and 51 baggies of crack cocaine.

Jones is being held at the Passaic County Jail pending a court hearing.
