A city woman admitted to leading police on a car chase before colliding into a parked vehicle that had a person inside.

Angel Reed, 22-year-old, pleaded guilty last Monday to three counts of aggravated assault, eluding, and driving without a license.

Reed is facing a six-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal. She will have to serve five years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.

On December 1, 2019, Reed was driving a periwinkle color 2007 BMW on Rosa Parks Boulevard and Pearl Street at about 12:30 p.m. She made a turn onto Pearl Street. Police tried to pull her over on Carroll Street, but she refused to stop.

Reed turned onto oncoming traffic on 16th Avenue. She continued driving to flee police. She ran a stop sign on Rosa Parks Boulevard and 16th Avenue. She struck a parked car on 16th Avenue that had a person inside. The victim suffered back and neck injuries.

“That was wrong,” said Reed in court. She admitted she did not have a valid driver’s license when she got into the vehicle and started driving.

Reed has to pay the victim’s out-of-pocket medical bills, according to Passaic County Superior Court judge Justine Niccollai.

Reed is scheduled to be sentenced to prison on September 18.
