230 Boys gang member pleads guilty in conspiracy to deal heroin in Paterson streets

A third member of the 230 Boys street gang pleaded guilty to being part of a conspiracy to distribute heroin in the streets, according to U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito’s Office.
Dwayne Northern, also known as “Black,” and “D Black,” 35, of Paterson, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute heroin and knowingly and intentionally distributing heroin on Wednesday.
Northern could face 40 years in federal prison.
Northern and other gang members conspired to distribute heroin and fentanyl from September 2018 through October 2019. Authorities pieced together the gang’s activities by conducting controlled buys of drugs, recording phone calls, text messages, conducting surveillance, and analyzing phone call records.
230 Boys operate out of the area around Rosa Parks Boulevard and Godwin Avenue. State and federal authorities have hit the gang hard over the past 12 months.
Northern is the third member of the 230 Boys to plead guilty in the past month. Tyson Jacobs, 21, pleaded guilty in July. Keith Brinkley, known on the street as “K Murder,” 30, pleaded guilty in early August.
Brinkley and Jacobs pleaded guilty to the same charges.
