Two employees at Paterson’s Eastside High School test positive for Covid-19

Two employees tested positive for Covid-19 at Eastside High School prompting the district to institute remote work for all staff until November 12.

The first employee tested positive last Thursday. People who came in contact with the employee were asked to quarantine for 14 days.

The second employee tested positive on Monday. This employee hasn’t been at Eastside High School since October 26.

Superintendent Eileen Shafer said the school building will be cleaned and disinfected.

Students in Paterson have been learning remotely since March. Schools will be remote through January 19. School officials will decide whether to open in-person classes in December.

Paterson has witnessed a surge of Covid-19 cases over the past week. On Monday, Paterson reported 66 new cases.

350 people have died of Covid-19 in Paterson.
