Longtime congressman Bill Pascrell, victorious after trouncing his Republican opponent Billy Prempeh, said he is optimistic Joe Biden can eke out a victory in the presidential race.

“He’s got a path. He’s got to win Michigan,” said Pascrell on Wednesday morning at the Lucas Park. He pointed out Biden is ahead in both Michigan and Wisconsin.

Biden received 19,181 votes while Trump received 3,404 in Paterson, according to early unofficial Passaic County election results.

The presidential race is still too close to call.

Pascrell won his 13th term in the U.S. House of Representative on Tuesday night. He received 37,961 votes and newcomer Prempeh received just 8,887 in New Jersey’s 9th congressional district, which includes Paterson, according to early unofficial election tallies.

Pascrell, a Democrat, lives in Paterson.
