The police arrested two women for allegedly engaging in prostitution on Van Houten Street, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Catherine Kotsambas, 22, of Totowa, and Cassandra Roman, 30, of Paterson, were arrested early Tuesday afternoon.

Kotsambas and Roman solicited an undercover detective for sexual acts in exchange for money, police said.

Kotsambas was arrested on Van Houten and Auburn streets while Roman was arrested on Van Houten Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard.

Police said both women were offered social service and assistance, but refused help.
