Municipal officials awarded a contract to a Bergen County company to handle design work for the Bauerle Fieldhouse renovation project.
Englewood-based Bonanomi & Bennett Architects was awarded the $126,940 contract on Tuesday to handle “design and construction administration” for the Bauerle Fieldhouse renovation.
Municipal engineer Frederick Margron said the project budget is still $1.6 million. He said phase one design has been completed and phase two and three have yet to be finished.
Previously, municipal officials awarded a contract to Ridgewood-based Practical LLC for $496,000 to handle “interior demo, prep work, and the entire exterior enclosure” at the fieldhouse.
Margron last week told the council actual work at the site has yet to begin. It’s not clear when work will begin in earnest and finish.
The roof of the fieldhouse, located at 98 Oak Street, has been leaking because of neglect and poor maintenance. Municipal officials said the building has been neglected for decades.
Bauerle Fieldhouse is used by the school district.
