Paterson man indicted for setting fire to Sussex Street building

A city man has been indicted for allegedly setting fire to a building on Sussex Street in June 2020, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ertugrul Abaci, 58, was indicted on two counts of aggravated arson and creating a risk of widespread injury.

Abaci allegedly set fire to 431 Sussex Street on June 9, 2020. Authorities said the five displaced five residents.

Abaci allegedly stabbed himself before setting fire to the building in a failed suicide attempt.

Abaci faces maximum of more than 20 years in state prison if convicted on the charges.
