Businesses in downtown Paterson, hit hard by the pandemic, will be able to conduct sidewalk sales for the next six months.

Shops have been granted permission to do sidewalk sales from March 26 through September 30, 2021.

“Our Downtown Merchants will be allowed to place merchandise out in front of their store to help boost sales,” said Orlando Cruz, manager for the Downtown Paterson Special Improvement District. “We all understand the need to find creative ways to help our businesses.”

Cruz on Wednesday said he obtained a permit for shops to conduct the sales all seven days of the week.

None of the businesses on Main Street in downtown Paterson took advantage of the opportunity on Saturday at noon.

Cruz said the aim is to revive businesses that were hit hard by the pandemic.
