A man accused of using Facebook to send and receive videos of child pornography has been ordered detained at the Passaic County Jail until resolution of his charges, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Devin Luis Ramos-Artigas, 26-year-old, of Paterson, has been charged with distribution of child pornography, maintaining child pornography, and possession of child pornography. He was arrested on April 15, authorities said.

Passaic County judge Joseph Portelli granted the state’s request for pretrial detention on Thursday.

Ramos-Artigas exchanged several direct messages with another person on social media. Both parties exchanged videos of child sexual abuse, authorities said. The videos exchanged depicted children 4 to 13 years of age. Authorities seized devices from his residence as part of the investigation.

This is not the first time Ramos-Artigas was caught with child pornography. On January 2017, Ramos-Artigas was convicted for possession of child pornography. He was placed on parole supervision for life. He violated conditions of his parole and was later sentenced to one year in prison.

Ramos-Artigas was released from prison in January 2020.

Ramos-Artigas could face decades in state prison if convicted.
