A Paterson man, who had a fentanyl parcel shipped to an address in Clifton, received more than two years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Felix Acevedo, 29-year-old, was sentenced to 27 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. He had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

From March 2018 through March 2019, Acevedo conspired with others to distribute the fentanyl. Authorities said on February 20, 2019, he took possession of a parcel that was shipped to him at a Clifton address.

Acevedo believed the parcel contained fentanyl. But law enforcement interdicted the parcel prior to delivery and removed the 997 grams of fentanyl that was inside.

Acevedo was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
