Paterson man indicted for allegedly sexually abusing 11-year-old child

A city man has been indicted for allegedly sexually abusing an 11-year-old child, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Odell Avent, 43-year-old, has been indicted by a grand jury on aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and attempted aggravated sexual assault.
On July 29, 2020, Avent allegedly committed the offense against the child at a residence in Paterson.
Avent could face life in prison if convicted.
