A woman and her overnight guest pleaded guilty in a case involving drugs and weapon found at a Paterson residence during a search, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Roshiema James, 49, of Paterson, and Matthew P. Peoples, 44, of Paterson, entered guilty pleas this week.

James pleaded guilty on Thursday to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and cocaine base.

Peoples pleaded guilty on Wednesday to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

On October 3, 2019, law enforcement agents were conducting a search of James’s residence. Peoples was an overnight guest at the residence.

Authorities seized a loaded .357 caliber Rossi revolver with a defaced serial number from a bedroom closet. They also seized fentanyl, cocaine, cocaine base, and drug paraphernalia.

Peoples, a convicted felon, admitted the gun and ammunition belonged to him. James admitted the drugs were hers.

James could face 20 a maximum of years in prison. Peoples could face 10 years in prison. Both are scheduled to be sentenced on October 27.
