Mayor Andre Sayegh’s administration is requiring all city employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19 or be subjected to weekly testing.
Sayegh is expected to announce the new policy on Wednesday morning. His policy is aimed to preventing the spread of Covid-19 and new variants that “pose significant risk to the health and wellbeing of employees and the public.”
His team has been urging employees to get vaccinated since the early part of 2021. It’s not clear how many city employees have already received the shots.
Paterson has approximately 1,500 employees, according to public records.
Those employees that do not get their Covid-19 shots will be required to get tested for Covid-19 on a weekly basis.
