Washington Township man identified as victim in Paterson murder

The man killed in a shooting in Paterson late Friday night has been identified as 39-year-old Rodney Phelps of Washington Township, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Phelps was found lying on the roadway in front of 285 Van Houten Street at around 11:20 p.m. He had apparent gunshot wounds, authorities said.
Medics arrived at the location and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the murder, Paterson’s fourth homicide in 2022.
