A Paterson woman is getting $225,000 in settlement after allegedly suffering injuries due to a fall on a tree stump on Clinton Street.

Mary Clay sued the city of Paterson and other parties in 2019.

On July 19, 2018, Clay claimed, she was near 60 Clinton Street, when she fell and injured herself due to a tree stump or uneven sidewalk, according to court documents.

The settlement amount is being paid by Paterson and Silk City Development. Municipal records show Silk City Development is paying $162,500 while the city is paying $62,500.

Members of the City Council approved the city’s portion of the payout during a special meeting last Tuesday. Settlement was approved in a 7-0 vote.
