Former convicted mayor Jose “Joey” Torres failed in his court challenge to compel the City Clerk to accept his nominating petitions to run for the city’s highest office.
Passaic County judge Thomas Brogan ruled against Torres on Monday. His decision means Torres won’t be on the ballot during the May municipal elections.
Torres wanted to run for mayor, but the city barred him from submitting petitions because of his criminal conviction.
