Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in the frigid cold at a vacant building on Oak Street early Saturday morning.

Firefighters doused the blaze at 53-58 Oak Street. They arrived at the scene and found the two-story duplex on fire. They declared it a second-alarm.

Fire was throughout the under-construction building. They declared third-alarm for manpower. Neighboring 49 Oak Street sustained exterior side damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Passaic City, Clifton, Hawthorne, Wyckoff, Haledon, Prospect Park, Elmwood Park, Totowa, and Woodland Park provided mutual aid.

No injuries were reported, public safety director Jerry Speziale said. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire marshal is working to locate the building’s owner for immediate demolition of the structure.
