8 people shot in Paterson overnight, authorities say

Eight people were injured in three shootings overnight in Paterson, according to authorities.
The Paterson Police Department responded to three separate reports of shots fired in different locations of the city.
Incident one happened around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, when police were dispatched to East 18th Street and Fair Street after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they found a 19-year-old male Paterson resident and a 13-year-old juvenile suffering from non-fatal gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.
Incident two occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, when the police were called to East 22nd Street and 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a 26-year-old male Paterson resident and a 35-year-old male Paterson resident suffering from non-fatal gunshot wounds. Both victims had been en route to the hospital via private vehicle, but the police rendered medical aid, and both were subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson.
While the second incident was ongoing, additional units were dispatched to the area of Madison Avenue and 10th Avenue on another report of shots fired. Officers did not locate any victims but found a potential crime scene. Shortly after, a 37-year-old female Paterson resident, a 33-year-old female Paterson resident, a 31-year-old female Paterson resident, and a 36-year-old male Paterson resident arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center via private vehicles seeking treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds.
The Paterson Police Department has launched an active and ongoing investigation into the incidents, and it is not clear at this time whether they are related. The authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
