Teaneck and Paterson men charged in Paterson double shooting

A man from Teaneck and another from Paterson were arrested for their alleged roles in a shooting in Paterson, authorities said.
Jazyre K. Kearney, 21, of Paterson, and Tommy Norberto, 20, of Teaneck, are charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for their alleged involvement in the shooting that took place on May 22 on West Broadway and Matlock Street. Additionally, Norberto is charged with second-degree certain persons not to have weapons.
Kearney and Norberto are accused of shooting a 37-year-old Paterson woman and a 35-year-old East Orange man. Both victims sustained non-fatal gunshot injuries.
Police identified the two men as the alleged shooters in the incident.
Norberto was arrested on May 26 at around 11:46 a.m. in the area of Prospect and Passaic streets in Passaic City.
Kearney was picked up during a motor vehicle stop on Wednesday at around 11:54 p.m. in the area of Madison Avenue and Broadway in Paterson. He allegedly had a gun in his possession at the time of arrest and gave police a false name, authorities said.
Kearney was charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree hindering apprehension during the arrest.
Both men could face decades in prison if convicted on the charges.
