Two Paterson men charged for allegedly stabbing 50-year-old man on Main Street

The police arrested two men for their alleged roles in a stabbing on Main Street early Monday morning.
Bryan Canales-Arias, 29, and Ernesto Canales-Arias, 23, both of Paterson, have been charged with first-degree attempted murder; second-degree aggravated assault; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
Both men are allegedly responsible for stabbing a 50-year-old Paterson man on Main and Market streets at around 1:25 a.m. on Monday. Police found the victim suffering from several stab wounds. He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.
Police said both men are arrested in the vicinity of the stabbing.
Authorities did not say how the two men, bearing the same last name, are related. Both are being held in custody. Prosecutors intend to file a motion to keep them in jail until the charges against them are resolved.
Both face decades in prison if convicted on the charges.
