A Paterson man has been arrested and charged with making terroristic threats and cyber-harassment, linked to a series of social media posts threatening violence against government buildings and judges.

Brandon Michael Hernandez, 28, was charged with third-degree terroristic threats, and fourth-degree cyber-harassment. Hernandez was apprehended on January 11, 2024, by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance.

Hernandez made posts on social media threatening to shoot and bomb government buildings and judges, authorities said. Details of the specific content of the threatening social media posts have not been disclosed by the authorities.

Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit started its investigation into Hernandez on November 17, 2023.
