A 19-year-old man was fatally shot early Wednesday morning in Paterson, according to authorities.

At approximately 2:02 a.m., officers responded to the area of Market Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard following report of a shooting, police said. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a Paterson resident, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
