Two men were injured in a shooting Monday evening near Essex and Madison streets, authorities said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting around 7:25 p.m. Upon arrival, they learned that a 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Paterson, had sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds and were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in a private vehicle.

Police have since located a potential crime scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
