A woman was arrested Saturday in connection with a stabbing on Park Avenue that left a 54-year-old woman hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.
Quadasia Pierce, 37, of Paterson, faces charges including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
Police were dispatched around 3:20 a.m. Saturday to the area of 71 Park Avenue following a report of a stabbing. Officers found the victim, a 54-year-old Paterson resident, who had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital for medical treatment, according to authorities.
Following an investigation, police identified Pierce as the suspect and arrested her later that day near the scene of the incident.
If convicted on all charges, Pierce faces a maximum sentencing exposure of up to 35 years in New Jersey State Prison, with parole stipulations requiring 85% of certain terms to be served under the New Early Release Act.
The state has indicated its intention to file a motion for pretrial detention, which will be heard by a Superior Court judge.
